The Fall is around the corner. The morning sun warms my skin, accompanied by chilly winds. Sunlight streams through the first-floor window. Her favorite iced drink on the table with my warm coffee cup. The ice melts, sucking in the warmth, and dissolving in. There is something about Fall, you experience everything at once—the chill, the warmth. Best of both worlds. Fall always fills me with hope, it makes me feel alive. Perhaps, it's the knowledge that gloomy days of winter are not afar.

Winter doesn't last long in India, yet it feels like the longest season.

It's an old house with horizontal security grill windows. The window looks out on the lush green lawn, shining under the sun's rays, covered with October dew. The air fills with the scent of coffee, mingling with the earthy smell of decay and melancholy. I call her to join me, her drink's color grows paler now. Then I wait, as I do everyday until there is no ice left in her drink, but she never arrives.
